About Us

Built in 1704, The Tharp Arms is a pub with a history as long and as steep as its unique roofline. Originally built as a village coaching inn, the pub has served a wide range of customers, from farmer to royalty.

The grounds of the pub still contain the ruins of the original brew house and piggery and its long, sloping roof carves a distinctive shape that makes it a popular land mark and talking point of the village.

Although it has enjoyed several names over its 300 year history, the pub draws its current name from the family that own nearby Chippenham Park. Originally part of the village estate, The Tharp Arms is now a Greene King property and the current landlords, Mark and Alison Daniels, work hard to ensure the atmosphere is always fun and lively and that their pub is an enjoyable one for you to visit.

Refurbished in late 2007, you’re guaranteed a nice environment in which to enjoy great cask ales and good, home-cooked pub food, live sporting entertainment and free Internet access via wi-fi.
